Watch 101 - The Secret of Omega's Model Number.

Have you ever wondered why the model numbers of Omega watches are so long and have many dots between the numbers? In fact, these numbers and dots have their meaning, and you can understand the features of the watch by analyzing the model number.

Each model number consists of six sets of numbers, separated by dots between the sets.

AAA.BB.CC.DD.EE.FFF

AAA

The first digit represents the product series, and the remaining digits represent the product line under that series. For example, all Moonwatch models start with "310".

First digit of the series

1 : Constellation

2 : Seamaster

3 : Speedmaster

4 : De Ville

5 : Limited or Special Edition

BB

The second set of numbers represents the bracelet or different types of straps. Here are some examples,

10 : Steel Bracelet

12 : Vintage Leather Strap / Aqua Terra Rubber Strap

20 : Two toned Gold and Steel Bracelet

23 : Leather Strap

30 : Stainless Steel Bracelet

32 : Nylon Fabric / Rubber Strap

33 : Alligator Strap with Stainless Steel Buckle

53 : Alligator Strap with Sedna Gold Buckle

55 : Sedna Gold with Butterfly Clasp

60 : Moonshine / Sedna Gold Bracelet

CC

The third set represents the size of the case, corrected to the nearest digit. For example, the size of the Planet Ocean is 45.5 mm, so "46" would be the third set of numbers in its model number.

DD

This represents the type of movement. The first digit of a mechanical movement is "2", "3", or "5", while "6" represents quartz.

EE

This set of numbers represents the color of the dial. Here are some examples of common dial colors.

01 : Black

03 : Blue

04 : White

06 : Grey

11 : Red

50 : Green

99 : Moonshine Gold

FFF

The last set of numbers represents the order of the watch. The pattern of the last set of numbers is not very clear. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Let's look at one example below.

310.30.42.50.01.002
